All,
I was pretty much set on the 1911 e series base model which is about 800. I see the performance centers are just gorgeous and I love the front slots even though some people dont but is the custom fitting you get in house at smith worth the extra 500 bucks (1300). If spending that much is...
Unfortunately here in my area of NY we always get ripped off and to top it off none of the gun shops will act as an ffl if you want to order something they carry in the stores even if it's 300 dollars cheaper online.
I actually have a few handguns already...just looking to get my first 1911 and loved the look and feel of the smith e series. The performance center is even better but I can't justify 1500 haha.
Honestly...what drew me to the smith was how nice it looks with those scale serations and wood grips. It just stood out so much. Then I loved the grip serations as well as the fit and finish. Just superb! I just don't like the look of the rock islands.
Thanks guys. That is what I figured. Now the next question is they had one that was 1200 bucks. It is stainless with the front rail and I believe it had night sights. On gunbroker they sell a model that appears to be the step down from this at about 800 bucks. Is there other differences between...
All,
I was in the gun shop yesterday to start looking for my first 1911. I held quite a few different brands. A few PARAs, a couple sigs, one springfield, a rugar sr1911 and then I saw a S &W e series. I heard many great things about the PARAs and rugar but was dissappointed. They all had...
it doesn't look quite as obvious as that...it is more a gun metal gray with a couple darker spots. your version does highlight what I am talking about though
I appreciate the answers...but would like to make a few comments. this may be my first revolver...but it is not my first pistol
I have been shooting for years. thousands of rounds through my m&p, xd, and beretta fs. I reload to shoot cheaper...so I have been around the block. I have researched...
I ordered a "new" 629-6 classic with 5" barrel from gunbroker. first revolver for me and first time using gun broker. well it came in yesterday and I have to say I was slightly disappointed. at first I thought it was used because the trigger and hammer seemed blackened and dirty. upon further...
I'm pretty sure ill end up with the 5in as it seems like a good compromise for range time with an occasional hunt. If I do get heavy into pistol hunting I can then get something else and still have this as a beautiful range gun. Any other opinions out there?
I found out they are all drilled and tapped so that is no longer my concern. now its down to looks vs use. again...this will mainly a range gub that I may hunt with...ill try it once and if I love handgun hunting...would probably end up buying a dedicated hunting pistol. would the 5incher be ok...
i must be weird because I think if its stainless it needs to be full lug because the stainless already makes it look modern and so does the full lug but if blued it should be half lug to keep that older rustic look.
5 full lug, 6 half, 6.5 full.
80% range gun 20% hunting. never hunted with pistol so may only do it once. priorities:
1. looks/resale...what do most people tend to buy these days of these 3
2. shootability for range and hunting. balance and such.
3. are they all drilled and tapped...I will most...
