Will firing a steady diet of Winchester 145 grain 357s through a model 19 or 66 have any effect on the revolver? I know to stay away from 125 grain 357s except for Golden sabers but am just curious about the Silvertips.

Thanks for the info guys. I guess the ammo was older than I thought. I can see why it did not go over big. I think magtech mags some ammo with the same grain load. I assume the ballistics would be similiar.

Like I said. I checked it to be sure it was not 380 or any other calibur and it was not. It had on the box 38 special 95 +P silvertips. It was in the older white/orange box. If I had the money I would have bought just to post on her for everybody to see. Oh well, if I ever come across it...

It was 38 special because I had to do a doubletake when I saw it. I confirmed it was 38 special. I was not looking for it for self-defense just thought it was an oddity since I had never seen or heard of this load before.

Anyone know anything about this ammo? I did not know that Winchester once made this grain of a bullet in silvertips. I just happen to see some at a gun show but did not buy it since I was out of cash. Just curious if anyone remembers it since it was in an older winchester box.

Thanks for the responses. It appears that there is not enough information to make a subjective judgement on it's effectiveness. It is not my primary self defense round but lately I have been able to find it fairly cheap so I will use it primarily for range and a self defense round if nothing...

Does anyone know if this is good ammo for defense? Specifically, 150 Grain Star fire HPs (357 mag) and 125 grain star fire HPs (38 special). I see this ammo is relatively cheap for 20 round boxes compared to other self defense rounds. So I was curious how it rates.

I know the 357 magnum rounds from remington 357m1 are the full power magnums and the 357m11 are the medium power magnums. So where do the 357m1b rank. What is their velocity? Can anyone help out. (SJHP)
