I have quite a few boxes and based on what I have I don't believe their is a specific size for a 3" in the 2 piece style box. Hopefully someone can verify but I would think a 2.5" or 4" size box would be correct.

Looks good although I'd recommend staying away from those hilary holes. Unless you did that on a early model I wouldn't expect the value to go up at all unless smith stops making them or something.

Shorter barrel definitely!!! At that price I'd buy both if you can or if just a little short on $ see if they will give you a deal for both....

How are the prices on the guns? I've never been only because its pretty far away but have thought about possibly scheduling a vacation near by at the same time as one of the shows. I've always wondered that with so many people the sellers would take advantage with prices on the highend.
Ive never shoot any of my collection. Mainly because I've never wanted to increase the turn line or especially put one on them and decrease the value. This one has that bead finish that will easily show a line even if it was just turn by hand, never shot.
This one has been shot some but do you...
Thanks for the info everyone! Wish I had asked questions a long time ago.
I think I have 950 for it so without knowing anything about it seems I didn't⁴ do to bad. I figured it would probably be worth atleast 1k or possibly a lot more to the right J frame collector.
Found this in an 11 year old...
I picked up a 317 with 2" stainless barrel from a friend a while back and Im hoping I could find out a little more about it. I know from the Smith book there was 120 made in the year 2000 but that's it. I've rarely seen another on the internet and dont know what it sold for or its value. Also...
There is 200 made of the 4" and 116 of the 6". But how many were made of the 6" target model?
Interesting that the ad says less the 150 made... really bad math? lol
Yep. A few of these sellers are actually in my area and I've heard a little more then just selling guns is going on but they do buy alot of their own guns then sell in store or try to sell at the shows showing the gunbroker price/supposed value. One actually used to print their own gun broker...
