What was your first Smith and Wesson??

My first was a Model 19 4” that I bought at Mack’s Sport Shop in Kodiak AK in 1980. I put about 1500 rounds of the old Lubaloy Winchester factory ammunition through it and when I left the island I sent it to my dad in NY. He called me when he got it and asked me how I screwed it up. Apparently I...

I was telling a buddy today that I want a snub 66 so I can carry both for the classic New York reload...... BTW sorry for no responses in the last few days, I was a recipient of the wonderful Vista Virus 2011.

    OK, I caved.....

At a local gunshow recently I was in a trading mood and came across a very nice (almost perfect)2 1/2" Model 19-6. I was already feeling a little good about a previous deal I'd made and decided to do a swap using my 3" Ruger Sp101. So, as usual, I took a little beating on the Ruger and took home...

how much did your 1st one cost

Mine was a 4" Model 19 that I purchased at Macks Sport Shop in Kodiak AK. in 1980. It cost $265.00 IIRC. I sent it to my dad when I moved to Ill. and he wanted to know why it was so loose! I told him I didn't know but I had fired 1500 rounds of Winchester Lubaloy .357's through it. That might...

Galco S.O.B J frame, Wichita barrel slab 686, Weaver base 686.

The barrel slab is still for sale. New price is 85.00 shipped. I'll trade for a Galco Dual position Phoenix or Galco D.A.O for a 4" L frame.

Galco S.O.B J frame, Wichita barrel slab 686, Weaver base 686.

It does appear to be matte stainless. It has a port at the top and you shoot through the slab (top hole). It fits a 4" barrel which I gather from the advertising cost my buddy an extra 25.00 In the third pic you see a recess, it doesn't go all the way through. Looks like a hole in the picture...

Galco S.O.B J frame, Wichita barrel slab 686, Weaver base 686.

The barrel slab slides over the barrel and lug of a 686 (or 586) and is screwed in. The lug needs to be drilled and tapped for the mount screw. New cost $200.00, this one is $100.00 shipped. The Galco is used but not abused. 40.00 shipped. M.O. or Cashiers check. The Weaver base is a...
