357 if I wanted something light I would get a 380 lcp (9.3oz).

Pachmayr decelerators will help. I use .38's for target practice and .357's for defense in mine.

I would have inspected it and refused to take ownership at the ffl transfer time if it wasnt as the seller claimed. I would also have my CC co. do a chargeback if I wasnt refunded by the seller in a reasonable time period.

Looks like its held in place by a roll pin so it should be replaceable. No idea what sight would be a drop in replacement thou. With the proper size punch you should be able to remove it yourself. Looking at some aftermarket FO front sights for s&w (EGW) they dont come with a hole for the pin...

It looks like a revolver. Sorry I cant tell anything more from that picture. You seem to be saying its a S&W .44mag? Is there a serial number?

Rubber dosent really snag it just dosent have as little friction on clothing as hard nylon does. A snag would be part of the gun like the hammer getting caught on something while trying to draw it.

Ruger sp101 if hes been a really good boy. ;) ~$500.00 I would say a S&W but they are imho pretty expensive for shooting .22.
