Since shot placement is king does anyone use FMJ in their SD carry weapon?

Wadcutter better than FMJ. Penetration, neither too little nor too much. See Chris Baker's testing at LuckyGunner per FBI standard. He doesn't bother testing FMJ but he does test wadcutters and LRNs. -

I need help selecting a detachable magazine semi automatic rifle, talk me off the ledge

Remember "Chief A.J." in Varmint Hunter? He accurized Mini 14s, ostensibly a Canadian so-called "First Nations" who guided wolf hunts and wrote of his exploits in the Yukon. A lot of guys sent him their Minis. I always wondered if his persona was a gimmick. -

Ever buy a gun for the caliber?

I once came close to overpaying for a near-mint '84 Rem 700 Classic in 250-3000. Still would like one, but now I'm in thin-the-herd mode WRT rifles. -

I need help selecting a detachable magazine semi automatic rifle, talk me off the ledge

Apropos of nothing, he pronounced his name GARE' nd . In case anyone wondered (or cares.) A friend of mine, a very fussy hunter and handloader, has a small collection of Mini 30s and thinks it's the most overlooked, underutilized rifle. -

    Gun ban failed in Minnesota

Such a ban has already been deemed unconstitutional by this Supreme Court, and certainly would have been overturned, likely even at the circuit court level. -

I got something more out of "Breaker Morant"...

Any alleged innacuracies notwithstanding, one of the finest films ever made. I know every utterance by heart, but will never tire of watching it. Thank you! -

Hornady 90-gr FTX Critical Defense, Hornady 90-gr XTP, or Remington 88-gr HTP. https://www.luckygunner.com/labs/self-defense-ammo-ballistic-tests/#380ACP -

I got something more out of "Breaker Morant"...

I've been with Charter / Spectrum for 39 years. My basic package lost TCM for a few months a couple of years ago, but I called and they gave it back along with a slight price drop. ("You don't get if you don't ask.") I also lost TCM from their On Demand, but it came back again without my asking...

I got something more out of "Breaker Morant"...

If it pops up again on TCM (live or on-demand) it'll look fine (via Spectrum cable anyway.) That's where I've seen the film many times, but not for some years now. One of my favorite films. -

    Please Recommend a Pellet Rifle

There are birds and there are birds. Native species are federally protected, and rightly so. But much of the decline of songbird species has been caused by introduced species, especially Starlings and Eurasian (House) Sparrows. These and several others have never been protected. The Audubon...

    Please Recommend a Pellet Rifle

I've got an R7 as well, ordered it brand new from Beeman ~35 years ago. Put a Beeman Blue Ribbon scope on it, and killed hundreds of starlings with it. The old Beeman catalog was one fine and fun document for learning about air rifles. Yes, self-promoting was old Bob Beeman, but he knew whereof...
