Just got the Model 69 2 7/8" 44mag. Great shooting right out of the box. Even the sights were right on. Usually I do a trigger job on my revolvers to get good double action. Not needed on the new one.
Well, I love my 69 4 1/4" and am definitely in for the 2 3/4" of both.
We have been asking for variations of these guns since they came out.
I am surprised that, as soon as the company seems to acknowledge the market, the critics and naysayers take over. Despite the cosmetic complaints the 69...
For balance and handling it can't be beat in the caliber. The offset lock detention is "as designed" and works just fine. I wish they would put out in 3" and in 41 mag and 45 Colt/ACP.
45 Colt using the RCBS 270 SAA (mine cast out at @285 grains) at 950 to 1,000 fps is a very effective load in my Model 25 S&W and Vaquero. The plus is that the recoil is less than the 44mag so follow-up shot is faster.
I bought one on impulse a few years ago. I couldn't resist shooting it and glad I did. Guns are just not made to sit in a box. N frame, 5" barrel = shoot all day. If you reload you can make the most of the caliber. Aspects of reloading it are challenging but that adds to the enjoyment.

Still don't understand what all the bad press on the Internal Lock is about. Sounds to me like lemmings going over the cliff. Has anyone ever really had a problem with it. I have six IL guns and shot thousands of rounds with them without an issue.
The M&P340 offers the best combination of...
I don't think we are saying anything different. You have to be mindful of the rules and procedures for reloading. You have to know the materials you are working with. If I were a commercial reloader, I would have to think about the powder I used in a different way. If I was going to push the...
I agree with all of the reloading procedures precautions given but I think it is misplaced to blame the powder. Nor do I see much difference among the fast burning powders- Bullseye, Titegroup, etc. as to the caution required in their use. Titegroup is being marketed as an alternative to...
