I just bought a 686 performance center with the 2.5" barrel. And I love it. It has a great trigger and can shoot magnums all day at the range. I carry it in my bianchi Holster on a 2 1/2" belt. I have no problem concealing it and it shoots amazing. It's my avatar picture. Working on posting it here.
It would be a universal gun. Everything but hunting. I have an option to purchase a 686+ PC 2.5", a 686+ 3", or an 66-2 3". And I do shoot a healthy diet of warmer 357 magnums. I'm not sure if the 3" with full ejector and slightly longer radius is better than a 2.5" PC gun-which does cost a bit...
Thanks everyone for the input, right now I'm leaning towards a 5" 629 classic. But not entirely sold. Would love to get my hands on a 629 Horton like b_san but who knows. I'll let u know what I pick.
Tug700. Thanks ! I like the looks of the classic with the full lug as well. That's why I was torn between the classic and the competitor because the 629 competitor is discontinued now and it looks nice and I think it'd be an investment not to mention all the performance center tweaks
ISCS Yoda, I greatly appreciate your input every little bit helps. I have heard a lot of people say that they love or hate 44s. Personally my 686 4 inch is my baby and I carry it and target shoot and what not. As for the handgun hunting I understand what you mean.
Thanks for the advice, it would be mostly for carry when I go hunting and target shooting. I was also considering handgun hunting in the future as well. And it could be used for home defense as well. I'm not sure how I fee about a 44 mag in a 3" because of recoil. I can manage a hot 44 mag out...
Hello all, I am new to the forum as a member but I have used it to get perspectives on which guns I should buy. And once again I am in need of your expertise. I am interested in purchasing a 44 magnum to add to my collection of 38 specials and 357 mags.
