Picked up a 29-2 6 1/2 blue, with wooden case, tools, and paperwork. Trigger has been changed to the smooth combat trigger. S/n N439xxx. Any help with a build date is appreciated.

I thought it was refinished, but all of the stampings are deep and clear. The cyl has an H on the back. If it is refinished, it is a great job.
Picked up this 28-2 4 inch today. S 236xxx. It has a bright blue finish, that has a few marks. Grips show wear. No box or papers. Anyone have an idea on production date. Also, did any 28s come with the bright finish?

I found a couple of 27-2 s on Gunbroker that listed serial numbers and build dates for 1978 and 1977. If those are correct, my gun is from 1976. Thanks for all the replies.

I ran across a good deal on a 629-6 6 inch, and bought it. Gun shop owner said the frame was the same as all 29s. So, I found a nice set of smooth n frame stocks. They don't fit. The frame looks like a round butt. What gives, no wood stocks for a 629-6?
