Good points walthernut and everyone else....i decided to go ahead with the used 40v. It was a friend who offered it to me and he needed the cash anyway so i got a great gun and helped him out in the process. Thanks again for all the advice....

ok since the rebate from S&W has been extended here is the new question..... buy the sw40v used for total of $250 or buy the sw40ve new from academy for a total of $280 after taxes and rebate i guess the real question is is the "ve" all that different or better than the "v" version for what...
