    Fiber optic sights for 686

I'm looking at putting a set of fiber optic sights on my 686. If I need a gun in the middle of the night my bedside is a Glock 19 with tritium sights so I don't need glow in the dark on the 686, it's more a daytime gun for carrying in the woods and shooting for enjoyment. I like the HiViz...

    Guns at airport checkpoints...

A couple years before I retired I had to go to a meeting in Boise, Idaho. I always brought a sidearm with me when traveling, particularly on department business. I know all the rules and follow them meticulously. I checked the gun in a Pelican case with two padlocks and a cable running from...

    Mr Clean Magic Eraser

I did a morning trip to the range today with my 686 and a couple other pistols. Just got done cleaning everything afterwards and made a discovery. Mr. Clean Magic Erasers work great on stainless steel guns for removing powder residue that even Hoppe's won't. I don't know if they'll work on a...

Extremely impressed with my new to me 686-5

Took my new to me 686-5 to the range today. I just got it back from S&W a couple weeks ago as when I bought it in July I found that the barrel was canted to the left a noticeable amount. S&W took care of it and straightened it out for me. I put 150 round of reloads and Speer Gold Dot 38+P...

Great accessory for Lee Classic turret if you have one

I found this item on a Lee reloading group on Facebook and bought a couple. It works great! I had an ejector that I bought last year from another vendor that I wasn't happy with. It was basically a metal sleeve with a rubber arm that slid over the end of a set screw in the sleeve. It worked...

    Backlog at S&W

There are no good gunsmiths around me and seeing I just bought the gun - off of Gunbroker, so don't know if I'll be doing that again - live and learn - I figured the factory with the no cost warranty work was the way to go. If it was a Glock I would have been all set as I was a Glock armorer...

Look before you leap (to sell your gun)

I hear you...I stop and think about the guns that I've sold over the years....M1 carbine, Mini-14, Colt Commander, Colt Gold Cup, S&W 39, S&W 6906, Remington 700BDL/22-250 and the list goes on. Friend of mine refuses to sell any gun that he has....wish I had done the same.

    Backlog at S&W

I got a new to me 686 a couple weeks ago that had a clocked barrel. I contacted S&W and they told me to send it to them for repair. They did the prepaid shipping label and everything for me, so far so good, happy camper. I read a post today on facebook from a S&W Revolver group where the...

Model 69 Barrel Rotated in the Frame

Just sent my new to me 686 back to them two weeks ago, same issue with the barrel.

New to me 686-5 on the way to S&W already

Shot way to the right, had to crank the rear sight way to the left. I'm too OCD to let things like that go.

New to me 686-5 on the way to S&W already

Just picked up my "new" used 686-5 from my FFL Wednesday. Took it out back yesterday to try it out and ran into a problem, it won’t hit where it’s aimed. I checked the rear sight and it was off. I adjusted it and things still weren’t right. I was an LEO for 40 years, 25 of those years a...

Pancake or paddle for 686 4"

Thanks all. I've actually used both for my Glocks but they are not as thick or heavy as a revolver. The biggest upside to me for the paddle is grab and go where the pancake needs to be threaded onto a belt. Although, I wasn't aware of the pancake style with the snaps for belt loops - thank...

Pancake or paddle for 686 4"

Just bought a 686 4". I'm looking to get a carry holster for it. I've got a Desantis thumb snap pancake for my Glock 19 and Glock 38 that I really like but I also like the ease of use with my Fobus paddle holsters. Will a paddle holster support the weight of a 686 4"? Any other good choices...

    Alliant American Select

Thanks. I found their entire reloading manual on their website a couple hours ago and downloaded the entire manual.

    Alliant American Select

Why won't it work with a HBWC? Besides SWC I also use Berry's HBRN bullets. Haven't loaded any with the new powder yet, I've only used Unique for the HBRN in my 9mm and 45GAP reloads.
