I know they are discontinued but has anyone here ever used one, with a .45 compact, and what was their opinion of it compared to the newer rigs.
Thanx
the Capt'n.
I just picked up a 4596 and the first thing was to strip and clean. Well, the hammer dropped while the slide was off and now; no trigger. Can someone instruct me on the repair sequence or do I need to take it to a gunsmith?
I am ready to be put in the town center, locked in the stocks, and...

Kurt,
First off thanks for posting my pictures. There's no doubt I have to expand my computer skills.
Second, I'm indebted to you for your information on this model.
Does anyone know a site I may get more info on this model?
Thanks,
the Capt'n.

General consensus was all 4596's were Lew Horton's and all come with squared trigger guards, as seen in the picture furnished by Deerman. Below are two pics of...

This is the reason for my question. According to Winchester their 230 Ranger T has a pressure of 21,000 psi while the 230 Ranger T+P equals 23,000 psi.
It's right on the border line and I don't like the idea of tap dancing in a mine field !
Well, I purchased one on the net. After looking around it appears to be a fair deal. It does have the rounded trigger guard so I suppose it was "customized". Question how can I find what the maximum barrel pressure is ? It's suppose to have the 4516-1 slide assembly and I need to know if it will...
Perhaps one of the esteemed board members here could answer a question or direct me to a website;
Are ALL of the manufactured 4596 considered "Lew Horton" models or only some? I've seen pictures showing the model number on the pistol and I believe that some had rounded trigger guards while...
