    Anybody love 686's?

Not older ones but a nice family.

    J-Frame Rubber Grip Delaminating

I agree. Since you mention the gooey thing, I do remember that happening.

    J-Frame Rubber Grip Delaminating

In the first 2 pictures you can see the glue that he tried to repair them. Both 642's are always lightly oiled and the grips were dry. Also, they were pocket carried almost daily and shot a bit. No unusual treatment nor exposures. Just seems odd that the problem does not seem that widespread...

    J-Frame Rubber Grip Delaminating

I tried a search but could not find anything on this. It seems the old Uncle Mikes were the best boot grip for the 642, mine finally wore out after about 20 years and I bought the S&W version. Seemed really good at first but the texturing wore off fast and now the grip is separating. This...

Photo Thread of Battle Scarred or Just Carry Wear

The pocket holster in the original post is a RKBA unit. I do not believe they are being made anymore. It has been just great in many different pants. I hook by pulling the gun a bit towards my center body and the leather stays reliably.

    New Quality? (J-Frame)

Been carry a 642 in a pocket holster since 1996. Always works. Son bought a no lock 642 a few months ago and it is a solid piece. I have had some issues with S&W revolvers but Smith has fixed them all. Sometimes it takes multiple trips though. Usually 1.5 months per trip till you see it...

    Ammo for the M69

The Underwood 200 grain Gold Dot, Critical Defense 165 grain FTX and the pricey Buffalo Bore 200 grain TAC-XP might be some to consider.

    warranty turn around

I asked as I sent a 686 in on February the 14th and just got a tracking email overnight that it is due on March the 4th. They told me it would take from 3-4 weeks. No communication while they had it but they did send me the FedEx tracking data to let me know it is heading my way. The...
