Thank you all of the members for your responses. I understand practicing with the weapon you use for self defense. I have done so with her pistol and it is unreliable for self defense IMO. I have shot many pistols in my 40 years of collecting firearms and this is a problem design. My wife will...
My wife recently bought a .380 EZ for personal defense. We noticed if not perfectly held the grip safety will not allow the pistol to fire. I have been shooting for 40+ years and have never had a pistol with this issue. I sent it back to S&W and they returned it stating it passed their tests. It...
Buy a standard. Shoot it a while. If you want to have it tuned do so at a later date. That way you can send it to an expert smith and know exactly what you are getting. I have read that the trigger work coming out of the performance center can be hit and miss. I bought a standard 686 plus...
Very nice. Are those registered pre 200 ban?
The 2000 Assault Weapons ban in the state of California sparked a renewed interest in the AR-15 rifle. It is estimated that some 400,000 California Legal AR-15s are in existence in that state, with another 100,000 added each year.[21] There are...
I don't need to live in California to realize it's gun laws are prohibitive. Maybe the joke was out of line. But I love owning pistols/AK's /AR's and other high capacity magazine firearms.
Man, I don't see how you guys in California put up with the gun control your state representatives impose on you. There is a joke calling California the "Granola State". Because what ain't Fruit is Nuts. :D
Thanks Steve. I'm looking to put an unfluted cylinder on my 686 plus revolver. I won't be swapping back and forth. If I change the cylinder it looks as if I will have to have a gunsmith do this.
I am new to revolvers so please excuse all the questions. If I were to purchase another cylinder for my 686 would it drop right in and fit or is it something a gunsmith has to do?
Thank you,
Charles
I found a six shot unfluted cylinder at Midway. I also found a complete 686 plus with a unfluted barrel so I now know they make them. I'll contact Midway and see if they can get the seven shot unfluted cylinder.
I found several 686 unfluted cylinders for sale but so far they have all been six shot cylinders. Does anyone know if S&W makes an unfluted seven shot cylinder for the plus model?
Thank you,
Charles
Guys, thanks for the pictures. They pretty much sum up what I'm seeing and reporting. I guess they have a Chimp with a dremmel tool to crown the barrels now. I bought a 686 because I need a revolver to round out my collection. Did an internet search on reviews and bought it. No regrets. It...
