Even if the hole in the receiver is milled during the production process, the barrel hole is milled after the barrel is installed, so it would do nothing to stop their army of minimum wage assemblers from installing things bass ackwards.

As with any publicly traded company, making money for the stock holder, or screwing the stock holder so that someone else can make money, is the only priority. The product, the customer, these are not even considerations. Sad, but this is the world we live in.

I have been shooting 357 through my 686 no dash with no problems. I have no intentions of sending it in for the Modification.

I have an old model 17 that will go hundreds of rounds without ejection problems, and the cases just get a small mark at the extractor star. Boring the chambers and extractor star together would fix the buldging problem.

For those who say S&W has no QC department, your wrong. They hire new QC inspectors all the time. Every time someone buys a new gun, they just hired a new QC inspector.
