15 round magazines are standard except for restricted states. You can also use 17 round magazines with an X-Grip to fill the gap between the baseplate and magwell.

How about a reasonable offer?

I have a Shield 1.0 I’m putting an optic ready slide on it with a Mepro red dot. What I would like is a set of suppressor height sights as well. Who makes a good set for the shield? So far everything is for the full size and compact line of M&P’s. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like you are “riding the slide”. Just pull the slide back enough to release the slide stop and let it go to do its thing. If you are assisting the slide forward that is the problem.

I have a first gen shield that I bought an optic ready for. The packaging is for a shield, shield 2.0 and shield plus. Outside of a dry fire function check which went as expected I have not swapped the slide over yet. So you shouldn’t have any issues changing out the slide.

Get a sight remove install tool of your choice, really no other way to do it.

Have you considered fiber optic sights? Dawson Precision make good sights.

So the Shield slides are able to pretty much able to run trouble free with possibility a few exceptions. Now I'm off to search for a slide! Thanks for the input.

You can find good deals on Aimpoint and/or Eotechs. Check the classifieds here and Gunbroker there are deals just got to be patient.

Now for optics....first consideration is your budget. Are you thinking scope or red dot ? For me history has shown a return to red dots.

Picatinny slot rails….they’re both older will mount in the slots on the hand guard. Probably need a 3 or 5 slot rail for the light. The light switch can be Ty-wrapped to the hand guard. The rails should be near the hand guard at the store or if ordering online they may be “recommended” when...
