I have always loved how thin the factory grips are as compared to other offerings. I didn't want to spend a bunch of money but I was tired of grip tape and other offerings that altered the grip to where it felt like I was holding on to a car tire with the double
stack models. So I decided to...
Was curious to see if anyone has replaced just the spring on a spring loaded slide mounted decocker for the 4506/4566 or 4006tsw CHP? Kinda thinking the whole barrel assembly replacement is needed at this age point of our pistols since parts are getting scarce. I have 3 new springs I thought...
No kidding! That guy was all over it.Wish I would've caught his name but I'm pretty sure he answered with "S&W customer service" and customer service he did provide well! I had told him originally that I don't recall seeing a "U" stamped anywhere but after we hung up and looked that joker was...
I just edited my post to reflect your exact question haha! The rep did say the RJF prefix did in fact go beyond just the 4566 and in to 9mm and from your verification the 4000 series:) I did not get a total of all models just the 4566. Give them a call!. I'd be really interested on what we come...
Hello everyone. It's been a while since I have posted in the forum. I decided I was going to call S&W to pick their brains on these RJF melonite 4566s and man did I get lucky today so I thought I would share the info I received. We all have the background info on these so this is brand new to me...
I purchased a model 410 in 1996 new and it had the "holey" hammer. Sold the pistol and decided years later I missed it. Bought my buddy's 1997 made model 410 and outfitted it with that same hammer I found online. I like the hammer so much because it adds class. I was lucky enough to find another...
Old thread but there is one on the big auction board now at $1300. My gut tells me it will hit $2000 at least even with no box or paperwork. I just took possession of a melonite 4566 which happens to be the starting serial number of the run or else I'd be after it!
I just contacted Smith for a DOM and was told Nov 11, 2004 for my #3104. As we all know, that's when it actually left the factory and not the actual build date. Interesting though!
Well here it is finally! Serial number RJF3104. Came with Hogues which I'm not a big fan of so I found some brand new dark gray recall grips no dimple. New springs throughout as well as two new mag springs. Swapped all three levers and adjusted the head of the drawbar to eliminate the bad...
Assuming you know the years of manufacture for 3rd gens in which you do the first digit is the last date of the year and the last 3 digits are the day of that year. So-
The 125th day of 1999 is the DOB.

Best bet is either Numrich, Gunbroker, or eBay. Maybe some other entity out there I am unaware of. Keep an eye out for parts auctions. There's a seller on Gunbroker who regularly gets uppers for a wide variety of firearms released from evidence and frames ordered destroyed by the courts named...
Maybe a Briley bushing is the only thing that comes to mind. But even with that, I never saw the need for one because the 4506,4566, 1006,1066 are more accurate than I will ever be. Especially with my old eyes.
