    First Revolver

Thanks K22 for setting me straight, thats a lot to think about when looking at online sites. I won't clutter this thread since I've already gave my opinion.

    First Revolver

Yea if we're talking about our personal first revolvers, mine was a 629-5 4 inch 44 magnum. I wanted a revolver to carry while hunting and found it at a gun show. But I would recommend a 357 over a 38 special because a 357 can shoot both where the 38 can't. So maybe look for a 357 smith and...

    First Revolver

I voted for the model 64, stainless steel k frame with a 4 inch heavy barrel its really a great handgun. A 4 inch model 64 would be a great first revolver, you could use it for target practice, concealed carry, home defense. The heavy barrel and light wad cutters it would be like shooting a 22...

Your in a auto accident and injured, wonder what happens to your gun

I had a accident right on the Virginia/Tennessee line last year around the 4th of July. It was raining extremely hard and my truck hydroplaned and I hit the median at 70 mph. I was carrying my 1911 at the time, and wasn't wearing seat belt. Fractured four vertebra in my lower back had to pulled...

    Quality of Modern 686 vs Pre-Lock 686

Yea I guess it pays to hang on to old parts, smith and wesson was nice enough to send back everything when I had to send that 629 in. I probably keep that hammer around it still has firing pin in it. Thanks for all the advice Tom, I can't wait to find a 686 now.

    Quality of Modern 686 vs Pre-Lock 686

Yea I would probably keep all the parts in the box. If I can find a new 686 or order one I probably won't be selling it. I always thought removing the lock just makes it like my older guns that were never made with a lock. But you never know what may become law in the future I guess. This...

    Quality of Modern 686 vs Pre-Lock 686

Beautiful gun you have there, I agree with everything you said about the older styling. I'm just impatient I will probably order a new 686 at a local store so I don't have to shop around.

    Quality of Modern 686 vs Pre-Lock 686

I think your right, I just needed reassurance that the new guns are good guns. And I have no problem with Ruger, I love my blackhawk I just know I want a 686 and if I get a Gp100 I may not keep it. The lock that smith uses now doesn't really bother me I know how to remove it and I know how to...

    Quality of Modern 686 vs Pre-Lock 686

I guess I should add I owned a Ruger Gp100 in blued with the 4.2 inch barrel and I carried it for awhile IWB on my right side. I don't remember it being any harder to carry than a 4 inch k frame. The only reason I traded it was I really wanted stainless and blue was all I could find at the time...

    Quality of Modern 686 vs Pre-Lock 686

What I'm looking for is a 357 magnum that I don't have to worry about what I shoot in it. I have a model 19 and its treated like a 38 special by me I can't remember the last time I shot 357s in it, and when I do there always 158 grain. I want a stainless steel 4 inch 357 that I can use for...

    Quality of Modern 686 vs Pre-Lock 686

I'm also curious about the quality of the new guns I'm specifically looking for a 686 4 inch and will mostly be looking at new manufacture. I've never owned a newer smith so I don't know what there like. I would love to find a older square butt, no lock, six shot 686 but I don't think that will...

    Do only "old"guys edc revolvers

I seen this thread and had to reply, I'm 28 and I carry my revolvers more often than a auto. I usually switch between a nickel model 36 or a nickel model 10-8 heavy barrel. Sometimes I carry my 4 inch model 19, but very rarely I'll carry my Beretta 92fs. I don't know I like the old smiths...

Model 36 non pinned trigger doesnt return

Just gonna update I was able to very carefully polish the ratchet with 2,000 grit sandpaper. The trigger is returning ever time now so no more locking up.

Model 36 non pinned trigger doesnt return

Yea that's what its looking like a trip to the smith. Luckily theres one close by, I guess its good I caught it now and not when I might need it.
