Update: After reading the post and taking the advice, I polished the troubled areas that were pointed out on the barrel and slide. I could not find the Slip2000 locally but did find some Tetra in my gun cleaning bag, so being a impatient person when it comes to my guns decided to use it...

thomast, thank you so much for the information. That is it! I checked the barrel inside the slide without the spring and pushed the barrel forward and sure enough it jammed into the slide with a lot less force that when it's being fired. I also searched the forum before posting but did not see...

Hi Watchdog, thank you for the welcome. It felt gritty when I tried the trigger, the slide also. I do this to all of the guns I buy. I use emery files. Along time ago I figured I could run 1000 rounds through the guns I buy or just polish everything and end up with the same results.
