    Cleaning up the barrel leade.

I have a new 21 dash 4 in 44 special. When viewing the barrel lead the machining marks are rough and deep. I can't believe this will promote good accuracy. Is there a way to minimally clean up the leade (using possibly wet/dry sandpaper) without specialized tools. Has anyone done this and...

    How to measure "groove" dimension

how to measure groove dimension I've tried rotating the slug within the jaws. The way the grooves are orientated I am only able to pick up a small edge of each of the grooves. I'm sure I'm getting a false reading. For a recent 44 special my slug measurement is .424". Should be somewhere...

    How to measure "groove" dimension

I have a 44 Special that I wanted to measure the cast slug dimension from a fired round. The problem is the grooves do not line up directly across from each other. Micrometer measurement at that point is not accurate. Anyone have a trick way to measuring the "across" dimension. Incidentally...

    Lyman Powder Scale and Dispenser

I've been using a mid 80's Pact powder scale. The scale is a good one but does drift at times. Am thinking of updating to a Lyman 1200 scale and dispenser. Does anyone use them and can comment. Any drifting issues? Do you feel they are more accurate than the older electronic scales? Other...

    Model 17

Some additional updates: the gun also has diamond grips, but not target. Serial No and Model are stamped in the yoke. Also, adjustable rear sights. PS-Is there a reason the last (2) or (3) digits of the serial No are left off when quoting.

    Model 17

I have the chance to purchase a Model 17 .22 6" barrel revolver, serial #K378216 for $599.. Unfortunately I forgot to notice if the revolver was a (3) or (4) screw sideplate. It did have the target hammer. I cannot verify year of production--can anyone offer any assistance? Also, does the...

    .357 Reduced Pressure Loads.

I'm planning on shooting IDPA PRACTICE with a newly acquired 627-5 PC (8) shot, .357. I've thought of shooting 38's but am turned off by the carbon ring buildup and what may develop. After reviewing reloading manuals I find certain loads develop substantially less pressure/velocity. Anyone...
