I've been busy but here is the "post" SW fix. They said said they polished the feed ramp and put in new magazine retention pin in, etc. I put on a Talon grip and then took it to the range. I shot 250 rounds mostly +P ammo but also some CCI ball ammo. I had one misfeed and that was my fault. I...
On one of the many BG 380 "negative issues" posts on this board, one guy had 3 BG and after 4 send backs to SW his first BG was finally fixed and shoots fine. So I'll be patient and give SW time as I really like the BG 380 and want it to work. I want a pocket pistol as a secondary back up so...
My top three ammunition: L-R
Underwood +P 120gr Extreme Defender 1420fps/537
Underwood +P 185gr XTP 1200/592
Winchester Kinetic HE 185gr JHP 1110/506
This is how I have my magazines now loaded with the above 3 in sequence and repeating for my Shield and I have had zero issues shooting that...
I have three magazines. All three had the same issues. It's not even extracting the empty casing from the barrel every time either. As for the CPX-3 no release yet which is too bad.
My primary is a 45 Shield. I want a pocket weapon preferably a 380 as a secondary carry. SW has it and they are about 6 weeks out (they've had it 2 weeks, so hopefully in 4 more weeks) I will know if I keep it or sell it. SCCY's new CPX-3 380 has been getting pretty rave reviews. May check that...
I did research. I read the bad and the good and the bad had been with the older model BG 380. There was more good about the newer version than bad so that's why I went with it vs the Sig or Ruger. It's in SW hands to repair and if I get it back and it still doesn't work right, I'll send it back...
With my Shield these are the ammunition that it shoots 100%
Underwood 120gr +P Extreme Defender-Primary carry Ammo
Federal 165gr Hydra-Shok
Hornady American Gunner 185gr XTP
Winchester Kinetic HE 185gr JHP
Hornady 185gr Critical Defense
Underwood 185gr +P XTP
Underwood 230gr +P FMJ
Freedom...
Took the Shield to qualify for my CCL and had zero issues. I was using 165 and 185gr ammo and apparently those are the rounds that work for me. I had totally cleaned and oiled the Shield and the three magazines prior to class as well. As for the BG, haven't heard back from SW yet.
Far as I know it is the latest revision. The M&P 380 Bodyguard. Has the serrations on the end of the slide with 2.75" barrel. Has the M&P engraved on the slide, etc. S/N starts with KDJ and am thinking it was made early 2016??? (04-04-16 actually) As for stamping on the magazines?
UPDATE. Range report from today. The Hogue beavertail helped and I shot 100 rounds of Federal econopac (Ammo from Walmart) 230gr ball, 25 rounds Federal HydroShok165gr and 10 rounds of UW Extreme defender. I had the range instructor watch my technique and all was perfect there. However, I still...
He does have one on the 45 Shield and I have watched it, prior to buying the Shield as I almost bought the Springfield XD Mod 2 40 but decided to buy the Shield instead.
Well I bought my wife a BG380 for Christmas and finally took it to the range last week for the first break in firing. It had been cleaned and lubed, though the magazines were new and not oiled. The only Ammo it shot perfectly was the Underwood 90gr +P Extreme Penetrator. Had 50 rounds of...
I will be going back to the range this Friday. I have the Hogue beavertail on the Shield and another 100 rounds. Both weapons have been cleaned and lubed and we shall see.
I like 45. So I will grow to like the Shield. Two others at the range shot the BG, one was the gunsmith. Both had the same issues that I had with it. After repairing the magazine retainer and tweaking it, then taking it back out to the range, he said there were NO further issues with the...
I have had zero issues with my 1911, HP JHP 45 nor the Beretta M9. Albeit they are full size semi-auto pistols vs compact. The range guy did say my technique on the Shield was wrong and yes this was the first time shooting a compact weapon also the first using shooting gloves. Once I took the...
