The knife you have is also known as the standard no.3 Shark knife as supplied to the US Govt. during WWII. From pg. 61 of the book, US military knives, by M H Cole. There is one in the rt. hand upper corner of this pic of some of my WWII collection.

I little more research might reveal that it's a WWII knife.

Kutmaster knives date from the late 40's early 50's. Most of them were assembled from surplus knife parts left over from WWII. These military/scout type knives are an example of the folding knives they sold. They also made sheath type knives out of M1 Garand bayonets, I have one and have seen...

Y'all made me get up and dig mine out the safe to see what it was wearing. It came with the pre war service style grips. Sn. C68732.

The main problem I've had with the 742 is the mags. You have to be sure and unload them after your hunt EVERYTIME. If you leave the mag loaded for any length of time, as in next week,month or deer season, you WILL have to purchase a new mag. The mags are the biggest weak point in my opinion.

Been meaning to join for a long time but Every year I Spent all my money on guns and didn't have any left over for membership. Now that I'm unemployed and disabled I couldn't afford to be a member even if I wanted to be so there you go...
