I bought two used 58 while living in San Antonio. Neither marked SAPD. My father did buy a used parkerized 870 Magnum Wingmaster used by the SAPD and gave that to me, its not marked either.

Picked up a 6" 19-5 in trade. Have had several 3"-4" K frames in the past but never a 6". Gun was parked sometime in past and inherited a set of VZ10 grips. Shown with 4" 58 and 2" 442 Pro.

Haven't had any issues with the M1911A1. Did have issues with the M9 and CheckMate magazines during GW1. This was a known issue the rough finish on the inside and outside. Sand with the roughness would bind the follower inside the magazine. Uncle stipulated that way as a cost saving measure...
Have carried Colt and Remington Rand M1911A1s. I grew up on the 1911 carrying cocked and locked and will always take a reliable 1911 over a 9mm.

Been a while since I"m out of the loop OCONUS but surplus Beretta mags were $10 ea. Once modified they can still be used in the Beretta. Beretta mags can also be cut for the SIG 226/228 as they also use the same body.

My EDC is either on me or next to bed at night. Long guns are in the safe (or on rack down range), mag inserted/tube loaded, safety off and chamber clear. If patrolling ie carrying long gun then round is already chambered and on safe. My routine for decades.

Whatever Uncle allows me to carry. This is in addition to whatever rifle or machine gun/grenade launcher I'm carrying also.
In the past it's been

Here's a trick I learned in Afghanistan. Since acquiring one SW9VE with only one mag needed more mags of course. Cutting a new notch above a plentiful Beretta M9/92 mag allows them to work without issue. Floor plate does line up however but functions 100%.
Hope this helpful.
