Carry the pistol in your holster around the house so that you will get a feel for it while you are waiting for your CCP. Carry it loaded with full weight if you can do so safely. This will also help break in your holster to your new gun.
I was told by a gun shop owner who also sold automatic knives that there was legislation being introduced to make them legal to carry here in WI. I haven't heard anything else about since and that was over a year ago. I ought to check up on that.
I was told by my CCW instructor who is also an...
I do check my carry folder, a Buck model 345, every so often. I check for function by flicking it open once in a while and blow any lint or crud out of it with compressed air. I tighten the screws when necessary and every other month or so I wash it with the other knives and utensils when I do...
Hmm... I'm hoping the Talo Exclusive 642 I plan on buying doesn't have these issues. I've never experienced any of these issues on other standard Airweights and I can't imagine why the Performance Center tuned version would be worse.
Whenever I see these signs I sometimes imagine a would-be robber or mass shooter, armed to the teeth and ready to carry out his dastardly deed, walking up to the door, stopping, seeing the sign, lowering his head in utter despair and disappointment, then turning around and slowly walking away...
Sounds and looks great. One more question... this gun doesn't require the moon-clips to function properly as would a 9mm or .45acp revolver does it? What I mean is can I still load up using a speed strip or speed loader and easily eject without the moon-clips?
Some of us weren't blaming him, we just didn't have enough information.
If what you say is correct, then I would've done the same thing. The question is why did the man need to stand in front of his wife to protect her from being shot if the robbery was going smoothly up until that point...
From what I am reading, it appears that the unarmed good Samaritan that was shot and killed did not know the armed CCW holder who shot the bad guy. At this point, the CCW holder may have had no choice and made the right decision but the question lingers whether if the unarmed person had not...
Agreed. I'm not an old guy, but I see some tactical advantages to holding a light off hand instead of railed to the handgun. With an off hand light you're not as limited to size for one thing. It's more controllable, able to be turn off and on very quickly and could be used as a bludgeoning...
Keep in mind that the ballistics performance of the 000 buckshot out of a Judge or S&W Governor will be vastly inferior then the same round out of a real shotgun. A good .410 load would not be a bad one for home defense if it were fired out of a long gun. That same .410 load fired through a 2.5"...
I would go with the Ruger Mini-14 but that's because I dislike pistol grips on long guns and I think that AR's are boring and ugly.
The Mini can be as effective a weapon as the AR but doesn't have the "evil gun" look about it. If there ever was another "Assault Weapons" ban, the Mini might not...
Hmm... this is a bit of a drawback. How much different can .38spl be among different brands? How do you know which different moon-clips to buy for which ammo brand?
It's not like the moon-clips are required for use in the Talo 642 so that's not a deal breaker, but it's nice to have the option.
While I agree that a sleeper is a distinct possibility, we also know that there are many, MANY stupid criminals out there who don't think of such things and/or who plan them poorly if they do. Still, your best bet in that situation is to not take the chance and not engage if at all possible.
I...
I'd be OK with carrying a DA/SA revolver concealed IWB, but I would never carry one in a pocket if I had a choice. That is just too risky and I wouldn't be comfortable with that.
I carried a CZ-83 semi-auto for a while which has a traditional exposed hammer and it never snagged on me while...
