    1917 Parts/Schematic

I was right! It was senility..... On closer inspection, I saw the transfer bar, which the manual does not refer to and calls it the torsion spring ( and interestingly enough there is no pic actually showing it in place). Previously I did not even see it as when piece is dissasembled, it rides...

    1917 Parts/Schematic

OK, That is what I thought, but I'll be hornswaggled (to use a nicer phrase than desired) if I can figure out how to accomplish that. It seems like that is not possible.....I will have to take a closer look here, and see if senility is getting in the way...... will advise BTW...when you...

That looks like the one a numrichs and unfortunately, not enough detail to tell what the cylinder hand really looks like. Thanks anyway

    1917 Parts/Schematic

I have a 1917 (.45) that I am attempting to get working again.(price was REAL low, so I am sticking to it). I have replaced the main spring (broken) and rebound slide (hammer rest was filed off by someone). Now I can not get the cylinder hand to lie correctly as detailed in Kuhnhausens'...

    S&W 1917 - firing pin problems

I have a 1917 that I am attempting to get in working order. The firing pin after release always extends too far thru the firing pin hole. Is this a function of the sear? The sear appears to be rather flat and worn on the bottom where it meets the (i believe) trigger lever (). thanx

    Is this a 1917?

That's right and they check out. BTW I now believe the grips are wrong, in the pic above, you can see the main spring bent around the brass barrel coming thru the grip area, which apparently bent the spring just below the fingers gripping the stirrup. Well broke my replacement spring trying to...

    Is this a 1917?

OK, thanx, that helps a lot, am not too familiar with the .45's.....yet.... It's a five digit serial number, I see one digit is obscured in the pic for some reason. The number on the bottom strap does not match the serial on the cylinder crane (oops....yoke) and frame, which kinda throws me as...

    Is this a 1917?

Just picked this up for "parts" price, am thinking of fixing it up, but is this a 1917 Commercial or something else? Just a serial number on the bottom strap that does NOT match the ser# on the crane and frame. The double spring throws me also. Barrel marked S&W DA .45 (see photo). The only...
