    Magnum Primers Question

You got that right! Back in the the early 90's when Clinton's anti-gun proposals caused panic buying, the only pistol primers I could find were all CCI magnum. I used them for reloading every handgun caliber I had, 380, 9mm, 38 Special, 45ACP, 45 Colt along with the 357/41/44Mags. Didn't matter...

Fiocchi 9mm Luger 158-grain, full metal jacketed subsonic

I hold with the "suppressor" crowd...my experience was also with an UZI...sonic rounds sound like a string of small firecrackers coming out the supressor, at sub-sonic you just hear the bolt cycling "tink, tink, tink" and the bullets making a firm "plop, plop" as they impact the ground. Maxing...

    .38 spl 200 grain?

I used to load-up 200gr gas-check SWC for the 38 & 357...for the 38 I like 800X at normal or +P, and chrony's just under 900fps, and burns fairly clean...used to carry a version of this load in a model 15 when I worked nights, and had to "hike" to my car...Jack

    Almost empty shelves at Wal-Mart

There is one positive aspect as far as "Wallyworld" is concerned...now you don't have any excuse to shop there ! Rejoice...Jack

    Primed brass......

For a while, like late 80's thru the 90's used to see lots of new pre-primed brass, usually popular handgun calibers, Remington or Winchester make, and maybe some Federal. Midway used to carry it...and just possibly they carried cleaned, resized and reprimed range brass in 9mm...not 100%, but...

    Issue with 9mm resizing die

Is this range brass you're reloading ?... you might've got a berdan or blazer case in the mix...that'll usually bend the decapping pin into a fish-hook and make removal a ROYAL PAIN...but your problem could be something else...please follow up with more info...Jack

    .223 reloading dilema

Excessive roll crimp pushes the neck walls away from the bullet, leaving it loose...been there myself...hopefully you've got a collet type puller, "re-resize" the necks...for some applications like loading for 223, I like the Lee factory crimp dies...they work slick and eliminate the...

Is Alliant 2400 a "new" powder or re named?

Didn't Alliant issue an alert some months ago about recent batches of Blue Dot not to be used in a 357 Mag load with 125gr bullets, and not to use it in the 41 Mag for any load !? (really bizarre) Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe thats basically what Alliant said on their website...and...

    Best way to trim brass

To shorten your seating die so it can roll crimp the "41 Special" case...strip it down and gently feed it into the side of a bench mounted stone grinder wheel...as it contacts, turn it back and forth like you're tuning a dial, and occasionally quench to keep the steel from discoloring...you'll...

Is Alliant 2400 a "new" powder or re named?

OCD1...I'm looking at my copy of Lee's 2nd ed. page 560... "HERC 2400"...along with all the other Alliant powders, were originally made by the Hercules Powder Co. up until the late 80's or early 90's when the factory was bought by Alliant... 2400 has been around since Moby Dick was a sardine...

    W231 vs H110 for .44 Magnum

W231 burns much faster than H110 and won't give magnum velocities...but is excellent for less-than-magnum loads with non-jacketed bullets...just be aware that a suitable charge of W231 will not fill up the case, which opens the possibility of a "double-charge"...double charges of fast burning...
