Remington's swaged lead bullets commonly had concave bases. I bought several thousand in .35, .44, and .45 calibers back in the 1980s when Midway offered them for cheap. Haven't seen them for sale in a while, but they are good bullets.
How thick is the rim on the PP cases as compared to the Winchester and Remington cases? The Hornet headspaces on the rim, and a thin rim will increase headspace.
I have a pre-M&P from 1902 that has a milled space in the top strap in line with the barrel-cylinder gap. I wonder why that wasn't carried over to more recently built guns as it seems to prevent the flame cutting associated with high pressure loads.
My standard load for the .45 Colt has always been 9 grains of Unique under a swaged Remington 250-grain RNFP. I shot these for many years through a Ruger Blackhawk and a Colt Anaconda. I wonder if this is OK in my new 25-15 or should I drop the powder weight a couple grains? I did put a...
Late chiming in, but my recommendation would be a 25-15, of which I just bought recently. It has great polish and blue, plus the walnut grips look good and fit my hand perfectly. It's a Classic!
The front of the cylinder may be dragging on the barrel face. I've had this happen on several revolvers with minimum gaps. The powder and lead residue can build up on the front of the cylinder and close the gap.
I recently installed a Burris Fastfire 3 on my 3-5-7 range gun. It only took three cylinders worth of shooting to dial in, but then another two cylinders loosened the mounting screws so that my groups became a pattern. What do you guys use to ensure the screws back out? I see there are...
I finally got around to mounting a Fastfire 3 on my 3-5-7 range gun. With a J-Point mounting plate, it's very trim. I notice the Fastfire 3 came with a hood that fits over the sight and has plastic or glass at both ends. I'm guessing this may be for shooting in inclement weather, but does it...
I just tumble lube with LLA and let them dry on wax paper. Don't size them at all. For rifle bullets with gas checks, I use a die with enough diameter that it doesn't size anything, just crimps the check. I let the barrel do the sizing.
