I just acquired a Model 60 no dash that was said to be Factory Engraved A quality. I have two questions that maybe someone here could help me with:
1. Most of the engraving edges have burs, which I would have thought should have 'smoothed out' over the 40 or so years of it's life. Is this...
Thanks Dwalt! But I have to differ about the value! I have three Victory models, but I collect them based on their engraving, not their historical importance. The problem is in the past few weeks engraved Smiths have gone way up in price.
I just acquired a S&W revolver that has me a little confused. Here are the details:
Hand Ejector (no model number)
s/n V183445
.38 S&W Special
4" Bbl, tapered
Fixed sights
5 Screw plus a strain screw
Butt swivel
Made in U.S.A. (Single line address)
The Victory number, if that's what it is...

I've got a K-38 Combat Masterpiece manufactured in 1950, and probably engraved shortly thereafter. The engraving is quite good, and the only hint I can find that might lead to the engraver's identity is an inlaid gold star (at least I think it's a star) just under the hammer. Does anyone have...
I just got a 10-2, dating about 1961, with correct Magna grips. I thought both grips were cracked, but it turns out they were symmetrically scratched as you can see in the picture. I was wondering is anyone might know the reason behind the scratches?
Thanks.
