    J-Frame Model 38 Humpback

Bianchi's Lightning grip was a stroke of genius. I looked around for the longest time for one to fit my 2 1/2-inch Model 19. I know they were made, but never could find one. My first J-frame was an old Model 36. I fitted it with the oversize "target"-style grips and carried that gat in a...

    J-Frame Model 38 Humpback

Yeah, as you probably know, I'm also a former WAC director. It's a pity what WA state gun laws have done to that great organization. Thx for reading.

https://gunsmagazine.com/discover/over-the-hump/ It turned into a story, sorta. THX everybody for the input!

My experience & opinion as to costs of reloading now days.

I've been at it at least 40 years, and there is one other B-I-G reason I've continued: I have NEVER worried about having ammunition during an ammunition shortage. I got so fed up with hoarders who would descend on gun shops and gun shows to buy up all the ammunition they could only to store it...

    .41 Magnum with Accurate #9, H110

Yeah, I like 2400 with lead, but I haven't seen a pound of 2400 for over a year. I'm picking up a pound of Accurate #9 on Friday. It has a similar burn rate to 2400 and I'll give it a try. THX

    .41 Magnum with Accurate #9, H110

I've got a bunch of 225-grain LSWC Keith-type bullets and I'm experimenting with H110 and will be with Accurate #9. Pal of mine says he loads this bullet over 18.0 grs of H110, but another pal says that's a light/low pressure load for H110. I've loaded the bullets over 18.0 grs and they aren't...

    MAY 18, 1980

A couple of weeks, maybe 3-4 weeks, before the eruption, (mid to late April IIRC) I did a story in the old Fishing & Hunting News about the potential loss of wildlife and fish if the mountain erupted in a worst case scenario. Some people thought it was an attempt to insert a fishing/hunting...

    J-Frame Model 38 Humpback

I don't recall any in .32 H&R, although it's a great cartridge. It would probably allow for the gun to be a six-shooter. I expect someone here can provide an answer.

    J-Frame Model 38 Humpback

HAHAHA! Always good to be "big on interesting trivia!" Thanks so much for that little trip down memory lane. Seriously, though, that must be quite a database. I'll send you a PM with the serial number if you don't mind and you can have some fun with it.

Recoil can be brutal in a J-frame in .357. Be advised.

    J-Frame Model 38 Humpback

There is no reason to get testy here. Some people dislike broadcasting serial numbers, for their guns or someone else's. Now, if you believe you can be of some assistance, I'd be delighted to provide the Ser. ## by PM.

    J-Frame Model 38 Humpback

Well, it was my understanding the '54' at the beginning of the serial number indicated it was made in 1954. I dunno. Sometime later the serial numbers changed to J-XXXXXXX, isn't that right? Either way, this revolver was in remarkably good condition
