    Driving through a non-reciprocal state?

I was traveling cross-country a couple of years ago. We had a 9mm pistol in the console. We both have concealed-carry permits in Alabama. I knew that I'd be traveling only in reciprocal-carry states. No problem, right? About four-hours into our trip, I'm getting my credit-card out to buy...

    IWB holster for Model 36

I liked the Don Hume holster, however it doesn't have any retention. But, I looked at the rest of their products and found the H715 MTB and it looks like it would work for me. Thanks.

    IWB holster for Model 36

As the title suggests, I'm looking for an IWB holster for a Model 36. Specifically, a 2" Chief's Special. I know there are many out there, but specifically I need a holster that is a clip-on, and with enough material on the backside to shield my "girth" from the metal of the hammer. But, even...

Need help choosing good 1st Revolver for a beginner..

You’ve got some good, albeit conflicting info. You want three different things: (1) A first revolver. Many are recommending a .22 model because they are easy and expensive to shoot, therefore they are great to learn the fundamentals. However, they are slightly better than nothing for home...

    The Blues

I will go against the grain here. I certainly wouldn't touch it with emery paper, or any other abrasive. However, touch-up bluing shouldn't hurt anything. I've done it dozens of times, with good results. Just remember that the spot will still be visible...at least to you. But, it doesn't...

    That’s a good read. Thanks!

Speer's 135 grain Gold Dot 38 Special +P Short Barrel load info

I have Model 36 2"and I'm looking at self-defense loads for it. I understand all the arguments stating that most +P ammo only produces more flash and recoil in a short barrel. However, the Speer 135 grain Gold Dot + P that the manufacture claims is tailored for short barrels has caught my...

Can I shoot +P ammo in my Model 36?

I agree with your logic. However, you'd think that with the abundance of short-barrel .38s, capable of firing +P ammo, that ammo manufacturers would be making that ammo with fast-burning powder. Who says that .38+P is tailored to 4" barrels instead of 2"?

Can I shoot +P ammo in my Model 36?

To answer the OP, yes the Model 36 can handle 38+P. To answer the others, I'm curious concerning your comments that the +P is worthless in a snubnose. I'm not arguing with you, just trying to learn something. Agreed that a short barrel will not ring-out the potential of any factory .38 load...

Newest addition to my small collection

No chemical is applied. The boiling water turns any rust into black oxide, which as its name implies...is black. This process works best, in my opinion, when the existing bluing is there, but there are rusty and worn spots (like most older guns). Actually, a similar process is used in...

    19-7 opinion

Play in the cylinder release is no problem. If the forcing cone is not cracked, I wouldn't worry about it. If the lockup is tight, endplay good, and the price was right, I'd be bringing it home.

Post some photos here, along with the serial number and you should get your answer.

    My recently acquired Model 10

Everything you are saying is true. However, not everyone refinishes a gun for the resale value. Although I have never refinished a revolver, I have certainly completely refinished several milsurp rifles. I'd never do it to a collectible that was deemed collectible solely because of its...

    Springfield M1A comments

I purchased a standard model, with the plastic stock. That was the cheapest option about ten years ago when I bought mine. I got a used GI, walnut stock (which are cheap and readily available) because I hate the plastic stock on a vintage military rifle. I use it strictly for shooting paper...
