I own both two M&P40's and with the cost of ammo being what it is, I was wondering if swapping to a 9m barrel for either my standard or my sub compact is an option?
If possible is that all there is to it? Just order a new 9m barrel (or two)?

To answer your question, YES. The full size mags fit the sub compact, but it's not a comfortable grip.
These "sleeves" are going to be for range use only.
