Anyone with experience buying from a Cabela Gun Library?

Shotgun from Cabelas I bought a Belgian Browning Trap shotgun from Cabelas in Louisville, KY several years ago. An outstanding gun at a more-than-fair price. Had it shipped to my FFL here. The Cabelas salesman called later to make sure I was satisfied. Was I pleasantly surprised? You Bet ! Don

My entire Winchester Model 92 collection. Let's see yours!

The 'most fun to shoot' in my Winchester collection is a takedown Model 1892 in 32-20. Has a tang-mounted sight, and it shoots better than I do. Don

    Hoppes Number 9 solvent

I've used Hoppe's exclusively since 1958. Revolvers, pistols, rifles, shotguns. Blued, stainless, nickel. Never, ever, had an 'issue'. I always wipe the guns down immediately after cleaning. The formulation was changed years ago (and that explains the minor change in smell)...something about...

    Are Colt Pythons that good.......

Over the years I've owned (and used ) many 27's, pre-27's, 28's, R.M.s and a 686. Likewise, had three Pythons. All fine revolvers, but NOTHING locks up like a Colt. Nothing. S & W and Colt are great in their own areas. Don

    Browning Superposed Pre War

MP1518 Big Cholla makes some great points. A factory B'Way Trap Superposed had a standard LOP of 14-5/8" including the recoil pad. HOWEVER, back in the day, you could order 'em to your own specs. Broadway ribs arrived in 1961, and a brand-new Broadway Trap in Grade 1 cost $ 350 !! Don

Colt SAA musings (Update #1 in post 37)

JohnRippert Find the very best 2nd generation SAA you can afford, grit your teeth, and buy it. I've owned most brands, and if I were looking to buy anything other than Colt, it'd be one of Doug Turnbull's. Nothing beats the real thing, and you're wise to be looking. Don

    A Question on .455 Conversions

Like Muley Gil, I reloaded with those Elmer Keiths (back when I had a 455-to-45LC conversion TL). Strangely, accuracy was just as good with 'cowboy action' RNFP factory ammunition (!). Both were about as good as the open/blade sight combo was capable of. Don

    Blew up my 629 today..embarrassed

About five years ago, I started using Titegroup in a 45 Colt caliber application. The best thing I can say about it is that its performance in the large cases was inconsistent. Gave away the best part of a five-pound jug of the stuff, and never looked back. Glad I did. Just saying... Don

Have we done a Wolf & Klar thread?

I've posted photos of my good old 3rd model W & K 44, but here's proof the good folks at Wolf & Klar also did business in other S&W's (:>). This M 1917 commercial model is from a 1926 shipment. Don

    Stock restoration by DWFAN

I sure agree with everyone who's posted about Paul's fine work. My 'King Super Target' 38/44 has some vintage-modified magnas on it, and they had several issues. Wishing to keep 'em just as they were in the 30's, I sent the grips to DWFAN, and soon they were back, absolutely beautiful. Paul's...
