Scratch that post, when my browser window refreshed, the gun looks like a 642, weird.

Is that gun a 642? It looks a heck of a lot like a stainless gun, like the 640.

You may want to check the firing pin to make sure part of it did not break off. My 642 had the very tip of the firing pin break off, while the rest remained in tact. This resulted in light strikes and misfires. A trip back to S&W resulted in a quick fix.

That front sight looks like it came off an AR-15. Glad it shoots well!

I would use the 29. Tracking a wounded deer isn't pleasant for you or the deer.
