All firearm manufacturers could learn from Remington. Heck.... EVERYONE....

New Remington bad. Old Remington good.

.38special self defence ammo for snubbies

I use the Federal 129 grain +p for carry and also shoot 125 grain lead loads for practice. I have also used the Golden Sabers on occasion. I like the lighter bullets in the snubs.

    Barami Hip Grip

I've carried one and liked it especially for summer. I always wondered if spray in truck bed liner would work to coat it. But from experience, you probably want to keep it smooth for less abrasion and staying put. Mine did finally crack and I went with some Uncle Mike's boot grips. Been...

Huge dilemma! Say good bye to my 686-1?

I bought a 6" 686 police trade in at a lgs for $240 in the late '90's. Excellent trigger and shooter. Traded it away years later and did well on the trade at the time. That is at the top of the list of guns I regret getting rid of..........food for thought.

    Mossberg 500

You got a good utility grade gun. I've had several and killed a lot of turkeys and a few deer with mossberg shotguns, never had a malfunction. You don't need to think about upgrading and getting a recent manufacture Remington would be a step back. Study your patterns with different rounds and...

    .22 LR semi-autos

Not an expert by any means but another possibility could be a Beretta Neos. They have a love it or hate it look and feel. I have never owned or shot one but they go for under $300 or so and anything Beretta has been good to me. Worth a sniff anyway.

    38 special vs 357

Your situation is similar to lots of folks. 38 has been enough gun for your stated applications for many years. 357 does give you more options though and that's always a good thing. Or a 38 J frame might be a nice piece for you and give you options. I like em all.

Being Priced Out of the Market

My post was merely an example. You already have patience and diligence (wife, church, guitar), I'm just pointing out that there are deals out there.......you are correct though, prices are rising. I guess just enjoy what you have and be content. Me, I'm gonna keep my eyes and ears open for...

Being Priced Out of the Market

Like a couple have already mentioned, local deals ftf ARE still out there. You have to be aware and ready. I answered an ad on a local sportsman forum that just said 38 specials and was very nondescript and low key. I'd say most guys didn't bother talking to the guy but I ended up with three...

    Deer rifle

To the OP, don't overlook the 357 max. I too live in a straight wall state (Indiana) and use a NEF single shot reamed from 357 mag to 357 max. It shoots flatly and very accurately with reloads of 1680 or 4227 and a 180 grainer. I think I may have $350 in the whole outfit with nikon scope and...

NEW PICS ADDED...S&W 67 help please!!

Agree w Flint Ridge. I blew up the one photo showing model 67 no dash and I saw 5k which would be very early production. I had a 5k gun at one time and it also had the stainless sights. I also had a 16k and it had later black rear and red ramp front. My best guess would be '72 also.
