    S&W Model 66-1 Snub

You picked up a beauty! I don't know if my 66 quals as a "snubby." It is a 3 inch Lew Horton Special that I picked up 25 or 30 years ago. I still love it! Mine sports Pachmayr grips, because I like the way they feel, and it keeps my original factory grips pristine. Congratulations on your find!

Just Have to Share... The Wife's Pea-Shooter...

Beutiful gun, beautiful hand, but... Please re-post without wife's finger on trigger while sweeping left hand. It would be a shame to lose that lovely ring finger. Sorry, but as a range safety officer it kind of scares me to see this.

What is your favorite S&W auto pistol? Why?

Tough one! If I could just say my favorite S&W it would be my 686 Pro Series, because of the flexibility of optional use of moon clips, conventional speed loaders, or just hand loading, plus the power, accuracy, and smooth trigger. Ooh I luv that wheelgun! But I digress. The question was...

    Advise on a 4 or 6 inch Model 686

My preference is 4 inch I have S&W revolvers in 1-7/8 in, 2-1/2 in, 3 in, 4 in, 5 in, and 6-1/2 in, barrels. For general use I prefer the 3 in and 4 in barrels. For CC, the 1-7/8" works best, for hunting, I prefer the 6-1/2 or 5 inch barrels. If you're going for steel plates or paper...

    Wanting a S&W Model 41

The Model 41 is a great pistol, but proceed with caution S&W is not really pushing the Model 41 these days and parts can be difficult to come by. I have a Model 41 that needs a new slide, because over time the original slide has worn down where the face makes contact with the slide release...

    AK-47

AK47 Century Arms makes a decent under-folder that retails for between $450 and $600, depending on who you buy it from. It is a great plinker and defense weapon, and could double as a hunting rifle for medium sized game. Of course with an under-folder you're not going to get that cheek weld...

    Imagine another 44 magnum thread

Leave it - you don't want it.. Ahh, you don't want that old, unsafe, no-lock revolver. You should walk away, but before you do, just let me know the location of the 629, and I'll sacrifice myself to buy it to make sure no one gets stuck with that lemon.... Sorry to be a smart ***, but...

    S&W - Are You Listening?

3" S&W I agree! I got this Lew Horton Special about 20 years ago, and I absolutely love it. It is a rare 3" Model 66 with adjustable sights. Dead nuts accurate at 25 yards, reliable, and a pleasure to shoot. I own several additional S&Ws, but this is my only 3 incher, and it's my favorite of...

Question about the 686 Plus Pro Series

Thank you to all who responded I had the same question, and was hesitant to acquire a revolver that would only work with moon clips. However, based on the feedback here. I made the decision and will be picking up my 686+ Pro Series today after 3:23pm PDT. I plan on using the moon clips most of...

    New 642 snub nose carry

it's all good I have a significant number of S&Ws. The three in the category you're describing are an all steel 640, a 38 Airweight, and a 638 Airweight. the 638 is rated for +P, and the 640 is rated for +P+. The mod 38 is rated for std pressure loads only. Here's my take, the 640 is well...

    New gun for the wife

What works for her I suggest you either rent or borrow from friends a few different options. The only gun that is right for an individual is the one he or she can shoot well. I bought my wife a Springfield 1911 in 9mm and a S&W Model 10 in .38 special +P. She can shoot them both very well...

Would Anyone Rather Carry a Ruger LCR than their J Frame??

think about the weight If you're set on carrying with 357 loads your going to want a heavier frame to help with recovery for a second shot. I had a 360 PD, which was beautiful and easy to carry at 11.5 oz empty. However when I put some 157 gr 357 rounds through it the felt recoil was so...

Pre 27 3.5 Inch Has Blessed My House Again **Ropers**

What a beauty! You are a man of excellent taste. I have 10 S&W revolvers and one Model 41. They are all in excellent condition, but none are as classic as this beauty of yours. I am quite envious. Congratulations on a great find!

    Red dot or scope?

get the right scope If you decide on a scope, be sure it has an adjustable objective. Most AO scopes will adjust for parallax from 15 yards out to infinity. A typical centerfire scope is usually set by the factory to be parallax free at 100 yards. A typical rimfire scope without AO is usually...

    ejection problems

I thank both John and Bounty Hunter. I'll send the gun back to S&W. I really like this gun for camping and high country fishing trips, and would hate to mess it up beyond repair. btw, I have never seen a spec sheet for this gun with interchangeable cylinder. I bought it new in the box, at...
