    What are you competing with?

Local range close to me use to hold Action Pistols Matches. I used my Model 15-4. Only mods were a target trigger and hammer. Being one of three revolver shooters I usually did pretty good. Some weekends I was the only revolver shooter. LOL Competing against all the semi-auto shooters and the...

Model 36 Questions (Date/Cylinder Lock Up)

The issue I am having is not with a clockwise rotation. It rotates with very little effort counterclockwise. Comparing with my Mod 15 and 586 neither will rotate counterclockwise unless the hammer is slightly pulled back.

Model 36 Questions (Date/Cylinder Lock Up)

It locks up fine when the hammer is more than halfway cocked to full cocked. The problem is when it is at rest.

    Cylinder Rotation Off Stop

Not trying to steal 54Bill's thread but I am having the same issue with my Mod36. There is a bit of wear (shiny bare metal) on one edge of the ball. In your last photo I do have a tiny bit of space between the trigger hook and bevel. If I place a screwdriver in the gap between the frame and the...

Model 36 Questions (Date/Cylinder Lock Up)

The cylinder stop appears to have a bit of wear but I have no idea how much wear is allowable. Same goes for the notches. Going the other direction if you will no visible wear. Guess I'll go the cheapest route first and buy a new cylinder stop and see if that fixes it. Keeping fingers crossed I...

Model 36 Questions (Date/Cylinder Lock Up)

It appears to and if it is between holes it will finish rotating into proper position as the hammer is pulled back or trigger is pulled.

Anyone have their revolver reblued at the S&W factory lately?

I sent my 15-3 in earlier this year. While it was still waiting its turn I learned here that they changed their process. Not sure how the standard polish and bluing would look I decided to upgrade to the high polish in hopes I would be happy. I got it back last month and to me I can see that...

Model 36 Questions (Date/Cylinder Lock Up)

Thanks. That would put it in the same vintage as my Mod15 and M586. Nice. Oops I should have included that in my original post and will edit it. The barrel is not pinned. The logo is on the left side and pretty much fills the space below the thumbpiece. Assuming that is a small logo? Since my...

Model 36 Questions (Date/Cylinder Lock Up)

First what year is associated with serial number 1J074XX? Secondly, with the cylinder closed it will not lock up 100%. Trying to rotate the cylinder counterclockwise (when looking at the hammer) it locks up on each notch. However it can be rotated clockwise with not a lot of effort. Each of the...

Holy Cow!!! 55th high school reunion

Our 50th is coming up next year, the bicentennial class. I was home on leave for our 10th and none of the guys I hung out with in school attended. So had dinner listened to all the speeches and went home. The 25th was pretty much the same but they held it at some fancy resort so only the country...

    Extractor Pin Replacement

That sounds plausible. I was just curious if there might be some wear and tear issue with those pins that I should keep an eye on in the future. Even though I will probably never put the amount of rounds through it as I did years ago. I no longer reload and do not use it competitively any more...

    Extractor Pin Replacement

I sent my 15-3 in to S&W to be reblued. On the Sales Quote they included, replace extractor pins. When I got it back I was hoping there would be some sort of explanation as to why they replaced them. Not one mention of why on the Repair Order. Any ideas why they would replace them?
