    Another Model 27

Yeah, that's ironic isn't it? Too nice to shot. Well maybe I will one day, you can't take to the grave. But I have nice model 28 5-inch that's had a lot of rounds that I would shoot first. Thanks for the comments!

    Another Model 27

I have a model 27-2 that I inherited from my dad. From my dad’s inventory notes "new, unfired in presentation case". Last year I had some extra time on my hands and started going through his guns to learn what I could about them. I knew this was a nice handgun, but I set it aside while I...

    Victory data base

I have two M&Ps from this period. 1) V96974, 4" barrel, 38 S&W Spl, Parkerized, "U.S.Navy" on top strap. My dad picked this up in 1967 but I don't have any other information. 2) 973313, 4" barrel, 38 S&W Spl, Parkerized. Seems to have been produced just prior to the victory series so not...

Model 28 FHP 5-Inch Polished Nickel

I finally received the factory letter. No new information really, just confirmed what I learned from the posts. Still, it's nice to have. I'm sure my son will appreciate having it when the time comes. Thanks again for all the comments! David

Looking for Instruction Books with Exoloded or Interior Views

I have a S&W catalog of parts that includes the .32 Hand Ejector. I also included a page from the 85th Anniversary Catalog that shows the .32 Hand Ejector. Hope this helps!

    Perfected Model No Serial

Thanks, everyone for the good advice. I had no idea. It sort of breaks my heart, but at least it will be fun to strip it down and see the inner works. And I don't have a particular sentimental attachment to this one. David

    Perfected Model No Serial

Ralph, Mike, Thanks for good info. He removed the number from the barrel latch, but the numbers were still on the two sides of the barrel and the back of the ejector. 33492 (the 9 could be an 8).

    Perfected Model No Serial

Thanks, Wiregrassguy. Better to know now than find out the hard way! I checked the cylinder and those numbers were also removed. I guess whoever did it was careful.

    Perfected Model No Serial

I have (I'm pretty sure) a Perfected Model. The nickel finish has some issues, but it's mechanically sound. I could only wish to be in this good a condition when I reach 100! The main issue with the gun is the serial number was filed off at some point before 1969 when my dad acquired it. I'd...

Model 28 FHP 5-Inch Polished Nickel

Thanks again for all of the comments! I'm inclined to leave the gun as is, maybe try to find some correct grips. It would be great to know more about the history. Once I get the letter, I'll definitely look into that. Is there any more information about the location of the FHP stamping...

Model 28 FHP 5-Inch Polished Nickel

Thanks for all the comments and information! My dad was a serious collector (mostly Smiths) and as a kid I would help him clean up his guns. I always really appreciated the beauty and craftsmanship of the S&Ws. I wound up with seventeen of what he had left, and I am trying to educate myself...

Model 28 FHP 5-Inch Polished Nickel

I have a Model 28 Highway Patrolman that appears to be one of the 25 FHP 5-Inch polished nickel that shipped in 1959. I have not requested a letter of authenticity yet - I hoped to get some expert opinion from the forum before I spent the 100 bucks. I inherited the gun some years ago when my...
