Thanks, I understand that you need to test your ammo and crimp. I just want to get bigger grips to improve reliability across the board with random store bought ammo.

Hi, I love my classic Model 36 chrome snubby but it shoots low with ammo thats not 158 grain. I like the small fixed sight allows me to shoot tiny groups, but with modern bullets there doesnt seem to be a good load of 158 HPs that expands out of a snubby. From my research it's all Short Bore...

After calling Hogue they said I should be able to fit Tamers on my Model 36 J frame with the Centenial spacer in the grip. I expect I may have to cut it down a bit. I'm taking the plunge.

Are those regular Compacs and not Compac pros (no backstrap)? Interesting that your Compacs weigh the same as my full size Grippers. I have a fishing scale which may not be 100% accurate.

Yep... I just uprgraded from standard 8.5lb to an extra power 9lb spring which i still can't try until tomorrow. Two different firing pins on 2 hammers which look pretty good. Primer indents LOOK pretty normal on the misfired rounds. I'm pretty sure upgrading the spring weight will do it...

I have tried both a SA/DA and DAO hammers. Neither works well.

2 boxes Federal is like 95% and 2 boxes of magtech 158 gr LRN is about 60% reliable. That's it so far. It's hard to find 38 special these days!

No, it's very tight. Tighter than my Model 19. Great question though! EDIT: I double checked and it has very little end shake. Also i can't isolate it to any particular cylinder. It seems random.
