Conditioning Old Wooden Grips Results
Hey guys. Thanks for all the sage advice. I took some of it. Some of it I'll leave for men with garages and wives with less sensitive noses.
I cleaned my Sarco grips up by liberally applying Dawn dishwashing soap and scrubbing vigorously with a...
Thanks! These don't seem to be collectible grips. There are just old grips for an old shooter grade pistol that had false pearl grips fitted when it was sold as surplus. If I bought new grips, they would look goofy on a very cosmetically challenged old piece.
If I can get them cleaned up...
I just got an,old pair of checkered wooden grips for my British Service Revolver from Sarno. However, they are a bit deteriorated and leave some brown on my hands. Any ideas on how to clean them up and revive the wood prior to installing them? We have some Murphy's oil soap, would that help?
I bought my SD9VE because I may need to perforate hoodlums who make unauthorized entry into my domicile.
I had an SW9VE in the past that I liked, but I had to sell it. The SD9VE has the same virtues. It fits my hand well. It has an affordable price point. It carries plenty of ammo. It's...
Glad you didn't end up being bear dinner.
Here's my analysis:
1. " We were 6 miles in the new season for campers." - If the bears are having their season for campers, don't go camping. Stay in a hotel.
2. "Across the 10 foot stream we stood, me chucking rocks and sticks at the bear as it tried...
Living near a wretched hive of scum and villainy keeps us on our toes.
One thing that we do when we go through a fast food drive thru is we go park out in the middle of a large parking lot to eat. That way we can see anyone approaching our car. We put the fast food bag on the dash so that...
Welcome to the forum. The SD9VE is a great all around pistol for anyone on a budget. It's also simple to operate and 9mm has good stopping power. A .22 is great to learn on and cheap to shoot, but most folks don't use them for home defense due to less powerful ammunition.
However, you should...
I have a Swedish Mauser & I've shot a Ruger Mini-14 fairly extensively. Similar differences in the intent of the rifle.
If you have access to a long, outdoor, range with say 100 yds, 200 yds, and 300 yds targets, an old battle rifle like a Mosin would be really interesting to shoot. It's a...
Over the years, I've really enjoyed shooting revolvers chambered for .38 S&W at the range. Typically when I go shooting, I'll shoot .22, then I'll shoot 9mm, and then I'll shoot something old and interesting for a bit. When I owned an Enfield No 2 Mk 1*, I really enjoyed it. Now, I have a...
I've found .38 S&W at Adventure Outdoors a big LGS in Smyrna, Georgia. I've usually bought Magtech brand from them, but they also have one of the big names Winchester or Remington.
If you want to enjoy a war movie, it's hard to beat TLD. If you want to get kicked in the nuts, it's SPR. That D-Day sequence in SPR is very visceral and very real. It really makes you think of our veterans and what they went through on D-Day. I think SPR might be the better, more...
It might still be a technique thing. I was searching around on this and one common sense suggestion I ran across is to maintain a very tight grip on the pistol through the whole shot. I'm thinking pushing the right hand with the pistol more firmly into the palm of the supporting left hand...
I was just thinking about this issue. I put 65 rounds through my brand new SD9VE over Memorial Day weekend and felt like the trigger guard was whacking the bottom of my trigger finger. I don't remember having the issue when I owned an SW9VE. So I was thinking two things:
1) Does the SD9VE...
Shooter grade S&W British Service Revolver
I just took my S&W British Service Revolver shooting over Memorial Day weekend. I went through most of a box of Magtech .38 S&W and even fired a few rounds of Buffalo Bore .38 S&W.
