    Alliant Power Pistol

You know, I was at Bass Pro shop today looking at powders. They didn't have the powder I was looking for but they did have Power Pistol. I noticed it was cheaper than most of the other powders. I have always wanted to try it in my 44 Special but I still have plenty so much HS6 on hand that I...

    Hodgdon 38 & 357 same max load 4.2?

If you look under the Contact Us section you should find their number. I have called them several times. However I recommend you do not call them yet. First look around on their site and find where they wrote a whole dissertation on Trail Boss and how to calculate your own load data for it. It's...

Proud Owner Of A New SW500

Lyman data has a load of 37.3 gr IMR 4227 with 350 gr slugs. I use Berry's plated for this, also Rainier has a 335gr plated that's slightly cheaper. These are my current go to load for general range plinking and introducing friends to the 500. Tried Trail Boss but it was a total let down. Very...

    Hi Skor 700X

700X meters very well in my Lee auto disks down to about 4.5 grs. Haven't tried it in my Dillon. Any less than than about 4gr and it starts getting erratic. I too tried the 9ish gr loads in 44 mag and didn't like the snappy recoil at all. That's not what 700X excels at. The beauty of 700X is...

    45Colt Hodgdon CFE Pistol=WOW

Well I have a chrono and 45 Colt is my favorite caliber so I am just going to have to try this powder. Like one of the previous posters I too settled on HS-6 for my full power standard pressure loads. Maybe CFE will change that, or not, we will just have to wait and see.

Ramshot True Blue vs Accurate No. 5 vs HS-6 comparison test results

Wow! Thank you so much for all your work on this! I came across a great deal on a bunch of True Blue and your work up is exactly what I was looking for. I have data in my manuels of course but I wanted more info on it compared to HS6 in several of the calibers you you selected in particular and...

    627 PC or 627 Pro?

Oh I like pic! I also had my eye on the TRR8 but as this was more of a target gun I assumed the other two were more suited for my purpose. So now I have 3 to choose from instead of two lol. My wife isn't going to like this because she knows if I can't decide on which one I have been known to buy...

    Ramshot True Blue powder

Is it a bulky powder for its weight? I prefer bulky powders as my revolver calibers usually have a large capacity and it's easier to visually see a bulky powder charge as a safety feature when loading.

    627 PC or 627 Pro?

So pretty much the only difference the extra $200 buys me is the 1in longer barrel?

    Ramshot True Blue powder

Hi guys, just found a good deal on a bunch of True Blue! Never used it before but see plenty of load data on it in my manuels. I just wanted to know if anybody else uses it and what your experiences have been with it. Just for reference I load most revolver calibers from 38 Special to 500 S&W...

    coated bullets Vs jacketed bullets

Also same thing for plated rounds. Berries and Rainer typically rate their slugs for 1,200 fps. However that can vary by caliber. The 350gr 50 cal slug intended for the 500 S&W is made extra tough of course and is rated up to 2,000 fps! As for powder coated bullets just check with the make to...

    coated bullets Vs jacketed bullets

I have often wondered the same thing as the OP. I just visit the website of the maker of the bullet in question to see what they say. Here are my findings. Normal lead slugs with no gas checks the makers usually recommend a max of about 1,000 fps. Gas checked range ammo usually have a...
