    Grip Finish Question

Thanks MrG.....Seems to be, from the majority of what I keep finding. Still kinda interested in at least Renaissance waxing, as they look so, uhhh, dry. Maybe I'll try a little spot on the inside of the grip....

    Grip Finish Question

Actually, it's a Colt....maybe I should've asked the Colt guys, but my Pre-29 example made me post here first :) It's a 2.5" Diamondback from 1975.....but maybe, as you noted, they are meant to be non-glossy? I've seen Target grips from the 4" and 6" Diamondback and they are more glossy. The...

    Grip Finish Question

DROSing a 1957 Pre-29 and saw that the grips are nicely polished and shined. Is this generally done by tung oil and (Renaissance) waxing....or just waxing? I want to get this shine on another revolver's grips, but don't want to wax first if I should oil first.....

The Highway Patrolman...Getting Cooler All the Time

Nice guns, of course, but as most acknowledge that thoughts exist of the "working man's gun", the "plain Jane", the "econo version", the "industrial" look...I just don't see how they can ever go to the heights of the 27 investment-wise. I like my 27s as shiny as they can be, so can't really get...

If you were starting a Smith Collection what would be your first 10 guns..

Thanks for the reply.....appreciate all suggestions and the thread! Of note: Generally most M19s are not old enough for C&R, and since I'm in Cali, the only way to get them from out-of-state is then through Single Action Exemption....which adds another fee....there are very few are available...

Great thread for a newbie to peruse through and get some ideas while learning  Not sure if I will ever get past the "novice collector" status....I'm pretty new at S&Ws at the tender age of 59 :o Wasn't even thinking of collecting, just started buying some things I liked. So far, I...
