I'll report back on how my Shield 40 comes back. I drove up to the factory yesterday and dropped it off with both mags. The guard who was at the intake desk said, "you must be from Connecticut.". When I asked how he knew he said that no .40 S&W versions of the Shield had shipped to Massachusetts...

I bought my MP22 as both an inexpensive (ammo) plinker, fairly accurate target gun, but primarily as a trainer for my full size MP45. They both are set up identically with ambi safeties, mag safety, ambi slide stops and are close enough to the same size (but not weight) to work exactly the same...

I just got off the phone with Smith & Wesson customer service. Since I live 40 minutes away from the factory in Springfield I'll be delivering the Shield 40 to them personally, cutting down on the time. When they return it, it will be by UPS. Hopefully this will quicken the process...

Well, count me as a "yes." Picked up a Shield .40 on Saturday, brought it to the range with much anticipation yesterday, Sunday, and both the short and long mags dropped with each shot! I notified S&W via email and am awaiting a response. Not sure if they will send me the new release, or ask...
