Thank you gents! I am tempted to buy it because it is a Combat Masterpiece, but the CAI imports marks just destroy the collector's value and the $350 asking price seems a bit high for shooter. Thoughts anyone?
Well done Bucky! Spanish proofs indeed:
Star Firearms: Dating your Star Pistol with Proofmarks
The proof year is 1982 (B.2) consistent with the year of manufacture (1981). The E-bomb is probably Eibar's revolver proof, athough I still need to confirm this. Automatic pistols got the P-bomb...
Thanks MP 1983! I guess it's a slow period for the historian at S&W.
I've contacted the F. Morton Pitt company to see if they have any record of where this snubbie was shipped. Would be nice to know if it went to a correctional facility officer or some other CDC person.
The S&W historian replied. Most likely this was engraved by the F. Morton Pitt Company in San Gabriel CA then issued to the California Department of Corrections. The F. Morton Pitt company still supplies uniforms to law enforcement agencies although the gun store in san Gabriel appears to have...

The Swedish guns were a standard model 12 with alloy frame stamped with 3 crowns and shipped in 1958.
I just picked up this Swedish m58 from a German auction site. The m58 was a S&W model 12 contracted by the Swedish Airforce in 1958. I still have to get it stateside but I have a plan. Only one of 1500 issued and it comes with the original holster.
Thanks, Bob, Speedo, and MP1983. I have fifty bucks laying around somewhere here. I'll be sending it in to S&W today and will report back when I hear from them.
Thanks MP. I was NOT in the market for another S&W wheel gun, but when I saw this one, I just had to have it. You know that feeling, right?...;-) Price wasn't bad either.
That must be some nasty germs you have there in Atlanta!! LOL.
But, no, I'm not sure that this is a California Correctional gun. The seller, who I know well and is reputable simply identified it as such. I'd like to know if it is not though. I always like to know the provenance. It adds...
CZ 75 D PCR for me. In Galco Yaqui holster and Crimson Trace laser grips. Best natural aiming pistol I own. Czech quality and Swiss (SIG P210) design (slide rides on top of frame). Great capacity, compact, rugged, lightweight. Did I mention sexy looking? Loaded with Cor-bon +P Pow'R Ball...
