I have seen comments that converting a 4506 (and possibly other da/sa 3rd gen pistols) to allow them to be carried cocked and locked is a simple modification that has the decocker doing everything it normally does except drop the hammer. Does anyone have any information about this?

I have a 629 with the 6 in bbl and it's a little long for comfortable holster carry if you are in and out of the car. Mine is a an earlier version without the internal lock and I had thought about getting S&W to install a 5 in bbl as that is about as short as I would want to go.
