What was your first Smith and Wesson??

My first S&W was a Model 19-1 that was heavily worked over. Very light springs but surprisingly reliable. Believe I purchased it around 1991. Almost won the “top gun” award in my P.O.S.T firearms class but fumbled a speedloader 😑. Ouch!

J Frame experts! Strange serial #

Was this number just mis-stamped? This is a model 36 no dash. Shouldn’t it start with the “j”? Thanks!

    Ok, so I have a problem…

Passed on a 6” C prefix and a 6” early 4th change. Chose the two 5 inchers over the two 6”.

    Ok, so I have a problem…

I work part time at a lgs. Boss purchased an estate of a regular customer who really liked to bid on “lots” of used S&W’s of all types at various auction houses. I think I got a bit carried away but ya only live once, right? 4” postwar S 873xxx 4” 2nd change? 126xxx 5” Mod 10 D224xxx And the one...

    Correct grips for nickel m&p

Anyway, picked up a nickled m&p 534K serial number. Grips are from a later gun! Would the correct grips be the round too walnut without medallions? Thanks!

    Members feelings on rust!

Thank you all for the excellent advice. I did purchase the revolver for $375! There is a minor, minor amount of pitting under the rust. But boy does this mother shoot! Really like tapered barrel and narrow rib compared to my ‘54 mfg K38. I think I’m just going to leave it alone and enjoy...

    Members feelings on rust!

Seriously considering buying a 1948 mfg K38 Masterpiece (45k serial#). However… was stored badly and about 20% of the cylinder has pretty significant rust! Rest of the gun is 95%. Think I can prob. get into it for around $300 or so. Cylinder will need restoration. Any opinions on this? Thanks!

    Model 681 Revolver - I love it!

I have not purchased an S&W for quite some time. In fact due to a tough financial situation I've mostly been selling. This is hard since I work saturdays in a gun shop! So on Tuesday a customer brought in several guns I would love to have but the jewel was an almost NIB 681, only missing the rod...
