    Old style thumb latch

    I have a Model 629-6. Is there any problem with replacing the new style thumb latch with an old style thumb latch. I've always prefered the old style.

    New Model 29 - is canted barrel "normal"

    I have been shooting for a long time. I have owned many S&W and Colt revolvers. I have never owned one that had a canted barrel. Maybe I have just been lucky but I would consider it abnormal. I would not buy a revolver if the barrel was noticeably canted. That's just me. -Gene

    .500 S&W Incident - Anybody heard of this?

    It can happen with heavy recoiling double action revolvers. Many years ago I let a friend shoot my S&W Model 29 with standard 240 grain loads. He fired 2 rounds in quick succession. Just as described in earlier posts, the recoil of the first shot causes the revolver to come back sharply...
