For what it's worth, the trigger in my shield 9mm is far better than the trigger that was in my Pro 9mm.

34, not 43. :D I mix them up all the time, also. Although I do own and love a 43. If you've never shot a 34 I'd definitely give it a whirl. The long sight radius helps tremendously with accuracy, both point shooting and long distance.

Who said anything about hearing it? Tactile reset is what I look for. And it's a *moot* point, not "mute." :) I wonder what's so different from the high level competitors in my area, versus yours? Because I know basically no one who doesn't want/need a tactile reset on their competition...

For the majority of people, this is absolutely false. Go shoot at a competition and ask how many people ignore trigger reset. I'm guessing at least 90% would think you are crazy. If you want to shoot fast, and accurately, learning to ride the reset it almost a must.

I paid 100 bucks, but considering I put trjicon HD's on the smith before I shot it I actually lost around 220. :(
