It takes me a while to catch on but I might be getting it now. The "problem" with a semi-auto stems from the fact that the sights are on the slide, not the barrel. This means that the barrel must lock in exactly the same position relative to the slide every time - any change here, even a tiny...
I hope we would welcome people that actually know what they are talking abou.! We all go on and on talking about what we guess is going on then shut down the experts. This is not helpful.
I had them in the Apex trigger springs on both my Shields. I just installed 'em as is. Mine gets wet with CLP and occasionally rain all the time. I didn't know they weren't supposed to!

Great couple of posts - thanks! We have had several discussions on this forum over the past couple of months about what makes a gun accurate. I'm not asking what makes a shooter accurate, but what makes the gun accurate - Barrel length? Twist? ammo? Sights, sight radius? If someone can talk...
Interesting discussion...I guess I just got very lucky! I have no issues and I'm up to a little bit over 1500 rounds through my Shield 9. Two rounds failed to fire but both had a dimple on the primer. I have noticed that I need to holster the gun by pushing on the back of the slide or it will go...
I enjoy a fine weapon. I don't care if its designed for duty/carry or what. Who cares - some of us seem to think there is something wrong with trying to get the best M&P possible, even if I'm not good enough to use it! I would not pass up the chance to get a really nice car - even if I can't...
I like and use the reset on my M&Ps too and I love to hear what you guys that actually know how to use it think about the original question. I know a lot of people don't pay any attention to the reset, but some of us do, even if it isn't "correct".
To answer the question for me..I've don't have...
Should call this one the Dragon! When I was standing at the gun counter at Academy looking for my first gun I would have bought this one! Heck, the flames alone would scare the BGs away.
I don't think I would say the average guy doesn't care. Speaking only for me, I don't NEED the mods but I really enjoy having them. You asked what's with all the trigger complaints and I just wanted to say at least 1 of us did the mods without any complaints at all. I think it just made my...
Seems like a lot of us think this is a symptom of gun ownership as a hobby and I agree! I have modified the trigger and installed an Duty/Carry kit on both of my M&Ps and put a short reset kit and a new trigger on my SIG. I did this because it gave me a chance to see how these firearms worked...
1. No. Your Shield isn't broken. It has a very strong recoil spring because the slide is very light.
2. No. The slide lock isn't a slide release. This is true on your Sig and not true on your Shield.
3. No. Nato ammo won't cause your Shield to explode . The manual says it might cause you to do...
Hi agksimon,
Love the post. I've been wondering the same thing about my little shield. I've decided that the best I will get is a group that I can almost cover with my hand from 10 yards. When I think about this, its really pretty amazing! S&W built a high-powered semi-auto handgun that is less...
