You may be compressing the grip safety while you are trying to replace the slide. Check You Tube.

I use the same grip on my Colt 1911 and never had an issue. As a right handed shooter the bite from my M&P EZ is in the flabby web near the bottom of my right thumb. Whereas the grip safety is hinged at the bottom of the grip vs at the top ie the Colt I was thinking that might be the issue...

Recently purchased a Shield 9mm EZ. Using a proper grip I too often get “Bites” or pinches from the grip safety. S&W said they are not aware of this issue. Anyone else having this experience? Glicky
