    help with model 36

I have a wrench to throw in the mix. I have a Model 36 (No Dash) with the standard latch which should date the frame to 1966, but the serial number has the floating J with 79J707 as the serial number. Comments?

I've also found that if the ejector rod has somehow slightly unscrewed it will cause difficulty in releasing the cylinder.

Thank you all for the information. As much as I know about Smith and Wesson, there always seems to be something new.

    S&W 5946 Canada

Hi. I just picked up a unique find. A Smith and Wesson Model 5946 with the badge of the Canada Dept of Fisheries and Oceans. I have only found similar ones with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. In addition, the factory box shows Smith and Wesson Academy. Can anyone me what the Smith and Wesson...

    S&W Model Pre-Lock 360SC in .38 Spl Dates to 2001

I just purchased a pre-lock Smith and Wesson Model 360SC AirLite with a 1 7/8" Barrel in .38 spl +P Jacketed. The product code listed on the label is 149351. The Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson 4th Edition does not list the product code, nor does it mention a pre-lock Model 360SC with the 1...

    Model 559 A672725

I have an unfired Smith and Wesson Model 559 (serial #A672725) sitting in my safe for some time now, and I just pulled it out as I thought about selling it. According to the 4th Edition of the Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson "The gun was introduced in 1980 with shipments starting in 1981...

Lew Horton vs Non-Lew Horton 629 3" Question

The reason I made the question is because I just put a Model 629-2 3" on layaway with my local gun shop. It comes with the matching box and papers. The serial number dates to 1988, and it is not a Lew Horton gun. The product code is 103610. The Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson 4th Edition is...

Lew Horton vs Non-Lew Horton 629 3" Question

From what research I could find, 8000 Model 629s with 3" barrel where made in 1985-1989? of which 5000 were for Lew Horton. That means 3000 were Non-Lew Horton 629s. In terms of value, which one is worth more?

Smith and Wesson Model 14-3 in .32 H&R

Thanks Thanks. Definitely a much better option than spending $$$$ on a Model 16-4.

Smith and Wesson Model 14-3 in .32 H&R

K32 Barrel The K32 barrel would have had .32 S&W stamped, but since I'm not a custom gunmaker I'm not sure what the best option would have been for choosing a barrel. The bore is straight and true. The overall condition indicates this pistol wasn't fired much. I paid $650 including tax. Any...

Smith and Wesson Model 14-3 in .32 H&R

Thanks I just acquired at my local gun store, so I haven't shot it yet. I don't even think my local gun store was aware it was a modified 14-3. It doesn't appear the barrel was sleeved. It's possible it could be a re-bore, but my opinion is it could have been a K32 barrel. The cylinder could be...

Maybe Metalife or Electroless Nickel? I did some searching and found this might be a Metalife finish.
